As a ui ux designer, note-taking in classes is a struggle for me. This negatively impacts my understanding, engagement, collaboration, and academic success. It is crucial for me to overcome these challenges for my educational journey and goals.

Problem Statement

University students need effective note-taking methods because taking notes on their own hinders their understanding, class participation, and collaboration. How might we enhance note-taking techniques for university students so that they improve their understanding, class participation, and collaboration?

During user interviews, we learned that users have major problems with writing notes, archiving them, and then reading and preparing for exams.

Final Design

Solution 01: Automatic Transcription

With a single tap on the play button, students can record lectures from teachers and classmates. The app then automatically transcribes the recording and creates a note for the student.

Solution 02: Note Customization

Students can easily edit and customize the note to fit their learning style and needs, making studying and reviewing much easier!

Benefits for Students

Convenience: Centralized note access for students, simplifying studying and reviewing.

Organization: Automatic sorting of notes by class and upload date for easy access by students.

AI-generated transcripts and summaries save students time by providing quick and accurate summaries, helping them understand and apply the information more effectively.

Solution 03: Community

The Community feature helps students collaborate and support each other, especially international students. They can join groups to chat, share ideas, swap notes, study, and practice together. It fosters collaboration and reduces isolation.

Iteration

User testing revealed confusion and frustration with accessing main buttons on the home page, as they required two clicks. To address this, we made the main buttons directly clickable from the home page, streamlining navigation and improving usability and efficiency.
